  • Name that squash....

I'd love some help peeps in IDing a squash we bought for halloween and never got round to cutting up.

Interestingly- when I cut into it today I noticed it's a bit like a spaghetti squash- ie fibrous strands.
It's a flat variety and a mid orange skin, with mid orange flesh (Spag squash is much more yellow)
It's not as orange as a chestnut squash ( which is rounder)
Size of the one I bought was 14" x 9"high.
    Anyone got any ideas???

Is it slightly scalloped? It may be "Red Etampes" Or it may not!

      Shape and colour are right!
BUT.... it doesn't mention the spaghetti flesh on the sites I googled.

Actually- the size is more 6" high x 12" wide for the one I had

          Good site!!!

Looks like Jack be little- but that isn't a spag type squash!

Just a thought- I wonder if its a X -pollinated spag with jack be little or cinderella squash!!!
It was from a small shop- so may have been locally grown! ( unofficially of course!)

I was going to suggest a X-pollinated one. According to Jamie (Oliver, me old mate), unless grown in a tightly controlled environment, squashes are complete slappers!

Oh is going to ask at the shop for me if they still have any there.

I've saved a few seeds- so it'll be interesting to see what grows!
