Tomato containers

I grew all of my Tomatoes in Growbags last year, and although I had a good crop from them all I was always concerned that the compost didn't seem deep enough. Do you think that it would be a better idea to grow them in B&Q orange buckets this time? I was thinking that its possibly about the same amount of soil in a bucket as 3 plants to a growbag.
I would be interested to know what you think.

How much are the B&Q orange buckets? I'm going to try my toms in Morrisons flower buckets this year (8 for 99p) they're about 25cm across & 25cm deep.

B&Q buckets are 99p I think

I'd go for the flower buckets too, if you can get them. Easier to put drainage holes in than the B&Q buckets are!!

I do tomatoes, chillies, peppers and cucumbers all in the flower buckets.

Are you placing your Growbags flat on the ground and planting your Toms on the upper side ?
If so, try cutting the bag in half standing each end upright and plant into the (now) deeper bags.
This was a mistake I made when first using Growbags.

I'll be putting toms in flower pots, but then sitting in my nicely fed raised beds. That way, they are kept off the ground but have lots of space for the roots to grow through in to the beds.
