Around the start of january i planted what potatoes were going to be thrown out, they had gone green , mini roots on them, i popped them in 50L plastic pots, about 6 inch of BQ compost, then about 4 inch on top
The last few days they have sprouted, loads of roots popping upward out of the soil and along the surface, no green growth yet, just loads of roots
All 5 pots are doing the same, king edward, charlote, rooster, niccola and some just labeled as white potatoes, there in a cold room in the house, no heating and an open window letting the cold in.
I popped some more compost on the top, should i have seen any green growth coming through yet? i asumed when people said earth them up it was as the shoot came up out of the compost?
is it normal to get a load of roots on the surface, did i not put enough compost on them?
