  • Garlic and onions

I wondered if anyone had any advice on how to progress with my garlic - that was planted in little pots before xmas. It has grown lovely green shoots and I was wondering if it would be ok to leave them in the pots or if they need to be transferred to larger pots soon!!?

Also I have raised beds that onion sets were planted in before xmas and some of them have died off but some have still got green shoots - when is the time to lift these out fo the bed??

    Thanks in advance

I have grown some garlic in pots too, which I use to fill any holes that might occur in my lotty planted garlic. I put these in pots well before christmas and left them to get a chill on them. I usually plant them in the soil around March when the soil gets a little dryer and warmer. My allotment is very wet at the moment and with the bad summer and autumn we had its likely to remain so for sometime. Though that said my garlic and over winter onions are managing quite well. I did this last year also and the ones that I planted around March did quite well - in fact as well as the overwinter stuff in the lotty
