  • Dig it on or get rid?

i've just (with the help of my dad ) dug up the lawn in my back garden in order to make a veggie patch. the thing is there is a layer of builders sand, or i assume that it is, underneath it that was used to level out the lawn. I was wondering if i should just dig this into the soil when i add the compost and dig the whole thing over. will it do any harm? I know that it can be good for drainage and that carrots do well in sandy soil but as i say this wouldn't just be one patch, if i dig the sand in it would be throughout.

any advice would be great, should i dig in the sand or take off as much as i can before digging the area over.

    thanks fellow grapes

If you have heavy soil the sand will help in aeration!

Have you got any manure or compost to put on top of it?I'd dig it in if your soil isn't free draining,I pressume it's just a thinish layer.
