  • Southern Garden Update

Well we are well into the FI season and i am really pleased with progress in my new garden. In fact i am so excited i felt the need to share

My pea plants have started flowering.
My cabbages have beaten off an attack of creepy crawlies.
My pumpkin flowered again and it looks like the fruit is doing well.
My onions and garlic are doing well swelling nicely.
Beetroot looks likes is going to be fine
    Have some nice looking turnips
Carrots were a bit slow to start but looking like they finally got the message!!
Lettuce....seems a shame to eat it
Potatoes just starting to flower but have dug up a couple of roots already (just to see whats going on) and ate the fruit of my labour

AND finally the best bit of all, i seem to have some lovely looking compost forming in my massive compost bin.

The sun is up, the days are warm and even the masses of tourists look shocked

As this is my first year i am well pleased, and already planning next year.....bit of a worry really but not obsessive at all!

Brilliant Wheretostart. You'll soon have to change your name to Wellstarted. Great results for a first year (or any year). We're all just champing at the bit to get started here - roll on February (although that's too early for some things)
In the meantime we just have to be happy eating what we've already grown. I've still got plenty of cabbage, leeks, Kohl Rabbi, sprouts, kale, swede, not counting what I have in the freezer. It's been a good year.
Hope you have a brilliant years growing and keep us posted.
