  • PEA'S a second growing spurt

    HI,

Has anyone ever known their peas to have a second growing spurt?, my peas looked to have finished, so I read that it is best to cut them, so as I was doing this, I noticed that from the bottom end of the stalk more pea flowers were forming on most of them- some of them have started adding on to the top. So anyway, green pods are formed and peas are starting to swell!!!! I'm not complaining, but has anyone ever known this to happen??
The only thing I can think of is that it was warm when they finished, then it had cooled right off, then it warmed back up again- thats when they started growing and with the rain at the end of last week they are coming on like anything.

So it'll be fresh peas for my dinner soon!!

I've done this with broad beans so I presume it works with peas too. Apparently gardeners during the war used to do this to get a second flush which is why I first tried it. Glad to get extra out of the plants, makes things go a bit further.

I was beginning to get a second flush of peas, but now everything in my garden seems to have given up.
