  • Mine still aren't flowering but do look unbelievably healthy which is good. Fingers crossed it won't be long as I love beans!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

    • Mine are still just standing there, no flower yet.

I've put them outside now to get more sun as I think they didn't have enough indoors. The good thing is, they're still alive and may yet produce (hope springs eternal).

I love the idea though and hopefully next time will try to put them somewhere where they'll have more sunshine.

Btw, I love this thread and would love to hear how others have got on with the French Bean Windowsill Project.
My hopes are not always realized but I always hope (Ovid)

      • I've had 3 crops [yeah, small but it added fresh colour to 3 meals], and stuck a few more seeds in the pots for a later crop - which have grown but not as big as the first few. The borlottis are pretty mental, they grow lots of new stalk every few days.

I think the borlottis want more space so as soon as I have a greenhouse, I'm hardening them off and they are going in the ground to finish them off.

        • Just harvested a decent handful of French Bean "Opera" from my windowsill pot of beans. Steamed, drizzled with olive oil and eaten. Lush. Thanks PW for the great idea, there seem to be hundreds of beans forming on the plants, they really love it indoors!

            • I've had about half a dozen beans so far, and tons more soon to be ready. What a fun experiment this has been, I'll be doing it again next year.

              • Ate my first beans tonight - not as early as a lot of you but then again I didn't get around to planting until later than many here. They were really lovely and beany and I shall be saving some of the seed as they were some of my heritage seeds which I chose as apparently they were good for forcing, can't remember the variety off the top of my head but its something like Crystal Ice.
