  • south facing garden (north facing veg plot!)

I have just moved into a new house. our old house had a lovely easterly facing veg plot that pretty much anything grew in. we are making a new veg plot and the only space in the garden is at the end of our south facing garden. unfortunatly this means from the base to about 7 ft out of a 6ft high fence. It is realistically a north facing veg garden that will get very little sun.

What should I / Can I grow? any advice greatly appreciated.

btw, you don't have to have a dedicated, solely-vegetable plot. Many plants look fabulous mixed into a flower border: climbing beans up a wigwam or trellis; ruby chard; lettuce etc.

I grow my crimson flowered broad beans and salmon flowered peas (and some climbing beans) in amongst the flower beds. Looks good!
