Cobra vs Blue Lake

I've done the research on this forum trying to find somebody who grew them both.I can imagine they are pretty similar but just wanted to ask if one is better than the other or is there no difference.I'm interested in the conditions they were grown,cropping season-how long and do they have any special needs(except support canes and watering in dry spells).
I'm going to dig a trench and fill it with kitchen rubbish as soon as the ground warms up a bit.Still don't know if to go for the wigwams(separate for each)or to plant them in a row.Any suggestions welcome.

I can only be half helpful.... I grew Blue Lake last year, and will be trying Cobra this year.

The Blue Lake were a hideous disaster - but I suspect this was due to me not really taking much care in preparing the ground, and of course the horrible wet summer, plus I think I left them in their pots too long. They never really got going, and struggled to twist themsleves round the support canes. I also used black cardboardy root trainers which DIDN'T rot down properly and severely restricted the roots.

Rows vs wigwams - if you've got the room go for rows, they tend to space out the tops a lot a better, wigwams concentrate all the beans into one space, and makes picking harder, and probably restricts the all important ventilation.

I'll let you know how Cobra does in the summer! But I'll certainly be putting more effort into preparing the ground, and WON'T let them sit around in their pots too long!

I have grown both and both have performed well, you pays your money and takes your choice.

Try them both, I love BL but they don't do very well here-abouts, but Cobra do.

We grew Cobra last year - ate loads, gave tons away and still eating them! They did really well despite the poor weather and the fact that they seemed to take ages to germinate. Once they got going they romped away - can't complain.
