I wish you 'd posted that a few weeks ago when I potted up some chits into buckets nothing showing yet above the soil and they're living in the chicken shed. On sunny days I bring'em out to warm them a bit.

Only just started chitting my first earlies and the others are still in the cool garage waiting for me to get them started. Aiming to plant out the first earlies end of March and the others slightly later which is later than quite a few of you but the ground won't be ready until then anyway.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Will have to wait a bit to do mine, as I use the 'no-dig' method and you need to lay the potatoes on warmish soil (could take a while, methinks). Will put one or two into pots in the greenhouse this weekend - worked well last year,

Even though they're unchitted,I might need to pop a couple of earlies in pots with the kiddies today....I have a huge bag of exciting spuds from Potato Day & 2 little Angels desperate to plant....I'll let them choose 2 each & see who's grow the best....the rest can still wait til March!

how do you store your seed potatoes????
I've bought my main crop and earlies (some are chitting)...but how do i store the surplus without them chitting?
Impossible is not a fact its an opinion...
Impossible is not a decleration its a dare...
                    Impossible is potential......

Danmon - I was about the ask the same question, mine are chitting on their own (so to speak)

Would have liked to get some in the ground this weekend, but despite the nice weather, I can't get my spade more than a couple of inches in the ground

Will persevere though, I'll try again next weekend!

I'm told placing an apple in the bag with the spuds makes 'em last longer - I don't know if it's true or not.

                        Anyone?

Mine are in a potato sack on the boards in the rafters of our garage - bit of a pain to get at but cool, dark and airy. Checked them yesterday and no signs of any chitting although the earlies had very slight ones forming when I got them down.
