Discovered some old brussels in the bottom of the fridge and was about to compost them, when I spotted they had started rooting . Is it possible and/or advisable to grow new plants from these ? Thought I might pot them up and see what happens. Do I risk bringing club root infection to my plot from them ? (shop bought specimens).

I'd go with what Lynda says about planting in a pot. Because they will be vegetatively reproduced they should be an exact clone of the parent plant!
Never heard of taking cuttings from brussel sprouts, but it would certainly make an interesting talking point..........let us know how you get on!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

These will set seed but don't expect much from the seed as it's usual to have at least six brassica plants seeding at the same time to give a gene bank and allow them to cross pollinate.
Still an interesting project to get them to flower though!.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
