Lynda66 - was it the electric one rated at 710watts made by Flora Best? If so, is it any good?

My local Lidl is selling them this Thursday 13th and I was wondering whether it would be a pig-in-a-poke seeing they are so cheap. Three friends (?) have so far let me down with promises to come and rotovate my itsy witsy 5m x 4m veg patch, so I thought this might do the job and be of a size I could handle.

OH bought one of the rotavator/cultivator thingys on Saturdays - we had a quick 5 minute play (we had a visitor so couldn't spend to much time on it) - blooming lethal, but great fun. Did half of one of our beds (3m by 4m) in no time at all, and left the soil all fluffy and lovely and crumbly just as lynda66 said...

The bit we tried it on was not very weedy so I am not sure... seems quite tough though... maybe someone has had a go... (probably depends on how many weeds there are...!)

Bought another pair of secaturs (can't have to many) and a weather station which the OH wanted.

the rotavator is brill, maybe not as good as one of the big powerful ones, but i think it would kill me, they are nice and light, and if you keep it in the same place it goes down as deep as you want, yes it's the florabest one .... most of the ground i did it on is relatively weed free, but it goes through no problem ... i would recommend cutting the grass down as it does tend to wrap round the blades but it doesn't seem to have a problem with shorter grass and annual weeds, though digging up a lawn may tax it a bit. it's ok with small stones too, though it gets a bit upset by bricks and surprisingly it doesn't chop all the worms up .... i would get another it's so far taken me 3 days and i'm nearly finished, but i do keep having to rest cos my arms go dead ... but they do that with the hoover too lol.

just make sure you get it the right way round otherwise theres a risk of losing toes when it flies towards you about 80 mph, and wear sturdy shoes not crocs lol
