How much garlic are you growing?

I have planted 30 cloves this morning. This won't be enough for us but it is a start.

I've got 82 lovely solent wight green shoots poking out of various boxes, buckets and a wheelbarrow, they're about 5" high and are wonderful, can't wait to harvest them. I use a lot of garlic as well in cooking..........

Lots and lots, a whole 13' x 4' bed of Lautrec garlic. Its in its third year now and tastes divine.

I've got about 12 cloves of Cristo in pots indoors at the moment. I only planted them a couple of weeks ago but the change in temp from the fridge to the windowsill has made them shoot up like buggery. I'll plant them out in the next couple of days.

P.S. So do you all uproot all your bulbs in the autumn, let them dry a bit, and then break up a couple of bulbs and replant them straight away?

Had a look at our 130+ this morning, they had been wabbit munched a few weeks ago, so Mr D netted them, all have come back really strongly, going great guns now!!

Mine are usually ready to harvest before autumn, I think it was August last year. I replant some of my own, plus buy some in. This year, we seem to have eaten all the best ones already , so it's all bought stuff I've planted.

We plant at least 3 types, 2 bought plus the best of the saved from the previous year!

So when do we harvest our autumn grown,never grown it before,do the tops go like onions?

I have about 60 cloves in the ground. 25 autumn sown and the rest sown about a week ago.
Only got one left from the harvest this year, we use about 1-2 a week so hopefully this year I will have enough

I don't think I've got enough in, about 20, I'll probably use them all really quickly! I don't have enough room for anymore though, will plant more next year!!

i planted three bulb's worth in various places and feel a tad inadequate after seeing numbers in their hundreds here! but hey it's my first year, i'm practising

Crundy

Mine are normally lifted and left to dry out from about late June, dependant on the weather.

The largest ones are plaited up to store hung in a cool dry place and then replanted split down into cloves about mid October.

The harvesting and planting would be slightly different dependant on where you are.
