Hi

I have saved a few seeds from last year, but will seeds bought recently be ok to plant?
I have just boiled a butternut squash that I bought from Morrisons. Could I just let them dry out for a week and then plant them? I did the same with some apple pips, but they have not sprouted yet, I planted them about 10 days ago.

I have saved seeds from morrison's long red peppers and dragon fruit from a local shop. Perhaps I ought to dig a few seeds out of the butternut squash before it gets eaten.

yes its absolutly fine to save your squash seeds. Mine germinated in 16 days and i've only had one successfull seed from 5 so far.

Thanks all, I am hoping to do some guerilla planting, if all my apple pips grow into trees.
Just a matter of picking the right place to plant them. I wonder what other veg are suitable for guerilla planting?

Havn't got around to sowing any squashes or courgettes yet. Just have a feeling we may well have some late frosts this year so am holding back.

i sowed some pumpkin seeds from a shop bought one about 3 weeks ago all i did was scoop them out dry them and sow..now i have 12 healthy seedlings about 6 " tall planted in a big mound of earth.they seem fine but lets see what sort of crop i get in a few months time !!!!
