My first sowing - crimson flowered - are about 2 inches high. I'm hardening them off - they are out of the greenhouse in the day and back at night. I'll do this for another week then they'll be going in the garden. I think I shall sow my Red Epicure directly in the allotment.

My Aquadulce I sowed last October have been planted out after overwintering in an unheated greenhouse. They are around 6" tall and starting to flower.

Another problem my poor old broad beans are suffering, I discovered to my horror this week-end, is the dreaded greenfly! I don't wonder they're looking sorry for themselves.

I had no idea they would be out there chomping quite so early. Have deployed soapy water spray gun with menaces!!
