    Hi
My best find was a display cabinet that a shoe shop had thrown out. It's made of clear thick plastic mounted on a metal frame with three shelves. The big curved frontage opens up and it's ideal for siting right next to the window to keep my seedlings safe from the cats.
It weighs a ton and nearly had a hernia dragging it home.
Second best was the hugest cardboard box you've ever seen, bigger than my kitchen... Had to walk home inside it dragging and lifting it home, but cut up into portable chunks made a great mulch for my allotment.
You seem to lose all sense of shame when you get an allotment...

I use bed springs stood on edge for pea frames.

This weekend my neighbours had a skip out the front of their house, i noticed some tyres in it and made my hubby ask if we could have them for planters........ not only was the neighbour throwing these, they also have 2 rather large solid wood planters, some medium planters and a few hanging baskets. Right now all of these items are in my garden waiting to be put to use!!!

        Thank god for good neighbours!!

i've also been saving the loo rolls and empty bottles........

I tend to 'aquire' things then have a brainstorming session wondering what I can make with them.

My 'Piece de resistance' at the mo is an octagonal chicken coop made from eight hardwood doors. The plan was to build something with eight doors and NOT make it look like it had been made with eight doors!

I'll post a piccie when it's finished as I'm quite proud of it!

My pond, made from an old bath was another inspirational find and looks nothing like an old bath!

The double bed springs will be used to repair the south border larch lap fence which is FUBAR. The singles were intended to be pea frames, but I'm wondering whether they would work as a fruit cage if I got a couple more singles and used the galvanised mesh I'm currently using to fence in the dogs, as a roof

I got the idea for the rusty springs from a freecycler who had them attached to a whitewashed wall. Nothing growing on it but it made a simple statement in a very busy garden.

i have used old wire from bt to make plant supports, the glass bits from washing machine doors make great bell cloches,my wheel barrow came from a skip and only reqired minor repair with a club hammer, and finally old broken drain rods and scrounged netting off a building site for brassica netting.
my wife scooched down in the car yesterday and tried to hide while I knocked and recycled offcuts of polycarbonate roofing from a skip,i'm still not sure if it was worth the 50 lashes from her tongue for a new cold frame though
don't be afraid to innovate and try new things

Aha, I have been wombling for quite a while!

I actually get excited when I go past a skip, it's the anticipation.

My garden look like someone has taken a big skip and turned it upside down scattering things everywhere.

I've started teaching my little one about skip diving and we are going to start together soon.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

Ooh, a school skip would be great - they're not supposed to use toxic things in there, so building remnants etc would be great for an allotment.
