1st Radishes of the year & Broadie in flower

Today I picked 6 lovely radishes which I sowed back in November. They've done much better than expected (and no slug damage, which usually does for them).

Also noticed that my over-wintered Broadie has flowers on it. It is one of last year's plants that I cut back instead of digging up.
It's a bit battered by the snow & gales, but what joy to see it in flower in early March

I'm feeling rather jealous! I only have seedlings (lots of them though!!). Sowed some radish today though so fingers crossed I'll have something to eat in a few weeks!

How did the radish taste? I find they get too hot and woody if they get too old.

They aren't old, they're young !
They've been more or less dormant all winter, and have just taken off in the last fortnight.

Well, that's great! I had never considered sowing radish for overwintering. Seems you can get a very early crop this way. Do you provide any protection?

Nope.
We had a couple of very cold weeks like everyone else, but they came through.
