  • just been reading this thread and so pleased I wasn't the only one that excited. This is my first year growing things and it's still exciting when things pop up!

          rite just a quick update as my laptops broken and ive just pinched OHs for a sec while apprentice is on tv.
          Decided to make the garden look a but more cared for by pulling all the dandilion heads off before his mum came down for the weekend, all i can say is its a good job she went home that night as the next morning there were millions more. So still the ever optimist ive started digging them out oh i have some fab pictures for you and im feeling really proud of how far its all come on ! Youd be very proud of me im sure

          you now the other week when i said i sowed a whole pack of lettuce........mmm well it was actually raddish haha found them today peeping at me so decided to give OH breakfast in bed. haha it was sooo funny, he had one raddish, one mushroom and some cos lettuce haha all home grown mind you, and he actually eat it bless him x

            • hi all........... im back lol, yes im still alive and yes..........im still a gardener!!!!(well i like to think so) have really missed you guys but have been sooo busy the last few months. I have just found a new hobbie........chickens haha how cool are they, anyway more on that later

              thanx to all you guys sound advice we have been reaping the benefits of homegrown veg, so far weve had
              strawberries
              raspberries
              beans (or peas im not too sure??? thats so wrong isnt it!!!)
              lettuice

              have lots more in the patch now, sprouts, brocolli, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber,cauliflower ect ect, im sorry to say that someone/something has munched its way through hell of alot of the leaves though and my cauli is looking very sorry for its self, his friend is ok though ive had a likkle peep inside and its all white in the middle....im so happy !!
              i have to admit that we have had alot on so havnt tendered to them as much as i would have liked but at least i have grown something and WILL deff grow alot more nxt year now,
              lots of stories for you guys (as im sure ud have guessed) but will leave that for another day
              hope to get back to our chats........... xxx

                          • Are there any instructions on your seed packets? That will tell you when the best time is to sow your seeds. I will not be sowing climbing beans and cucumbers for a good few weeks yet.

                                Unless you have the space and a heated greenhouse where they can get maximum sun don't start now, I started mine last year end of february or so and in the end I had to scrap them because they go so leggy and so large I had nowhere for them to go and it was still far too cold outside.
