I've only been growing sweet peppers for a few years and they do seem to take a long time to get started. I sowed mine about three weeks ago and still no sign. My chillis were sowed at the same time and they are just starting to come up today.I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

How long do peppers take to germinate?
Forever + 1 day
They will come up quicker with some heat - airing cupboard can be good if you don't have a heated propagator, but you have to check every day to make sure they stay damp, and take the trays out into the light as soon as they pop up.
If you have them on a windowsill, it till gets quite chilly overnight so that might slow things down, bring them more into the room (dining table?) until they germinate so the temp isn't so up and down.
Hope they pop up soon

It depends on the variety. I usually find that my peppers come up before my chillies but not always. Heat definitely helps, they're one of the few crops which I always put in a heated propogator and even so, one of my chillies took about 3 weeks to come through. You can try pregerminating on kitchen roll so that you can see when thry first get a root and then put in compost but I find it far more of a faff keeping the kitchen roll wet so I don't kill them as they emerge. Sowed most of mine at the end of January and they're now nice little plants with a few leaves in 3" pots taking up most of the utility room!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
