Recycling unwanted pots?

While clearing out my balcony terrace, I've discovered scores of plastic pots, tubs and plant containers including a few seed trays that I have no more use for (too many!). I live in central London. I'd hate to simply throw them away, so I was wondering if anyone wanted some free pots - or had any ideas on how I could recycle them?? I haven't counted but there are at least 30-40 pots of varying sizes, for seedlings up to houseplant containers.

Freecycle is a good place to start, I got a lot of pots from there.

Most garden centers now have a pot recycling bin outside the shop.

Good idea. I used to get rid of unwanted stuff on Gumtree but was plagued by time wasters - on average, about 30-40% of the people never turned up, or never responded to emails after I contacted them. I'll give Freecycle a go - just posted the offer in my borough.

Unfortunately you do get timewasters on freecycle too.
But all in all, it's a good thing

I've learnt the hard way so my tip is to always insist they send you their telephone number - if they give it to you they always turn up because you've got a means to contact them. Whenever I post on freecycle I tell them always to respond with a telephone number, I don't ever give away anything to them if they don't. So far it's worked 100% of the time.

I just bin mine, our freecycle seems abit dodgy! Had a admin email from it the other day, warning all users violent threats would not be allowed!!! So think I'll pass on it

Don't worry about it, it was probably because they had a problem with someone e-mailing someone else, so decided to warn everyone that it wouldn't be tolerated.
Been there...done something similar...not the threats though honest!!

I think it is brilliant thet there are so many options for you to recycle/pass on stuff. Here in France there is no culture of that sort of thing. We don't even have second hand clothes shops. I asked a friend if she would pass on her boy's rugby club track suit to my son - and she looked at me as though I was mad. I am desperate for pots and seed trays - the prices here for new are crazy (24 cell modules - 12 euros, seed trays - 8 euros etc)
Keep passing on stuff - you'd miss it if it stopped!!

I freecycle them....and leave them out the front or back in a bin bag so that if the person doesn't turn up, then you can re-offer or some kind soul [one of the tourists usually, round here] walking by will take them away...
