  • Aubergine help.

    Hi,

My sister in-law gave me a couple of plants to look after over the winter. I have put them in the greenhouse.

I have had no fruit of them but there are quite a lot of purple flowers.

Will these produce fruit or do i have to do something with them. Or is it to late for them to fruit now.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.

I don't think aubergines set that well now. You could try the paintbrush method to encourage them, but I do think it is a bit late.

Hi Fezinio, Welcome to the vine.
As MultiVeg says it is really to late for them to fruit without help from extra heat and using a paint brush like MV said all of which is a lot of hard work and there will still only be a slim chance of getting any aubergines
I don't think it would be worth it

ok thanks i thought it was to late nevermind.

I suppose i will have to make sure they are looked after over winter and my sister in law may have nice fruit on them next year

Runner beans are perennial, some peppers are perennial as well. I don't know about aubergines though.

Just ventured out into the greenhouse. I have an aubergine plant in there which hasn't produced anything. There are, however, flowers and more to come. I might pop out there every so often with my paintbrush (might actually be a make-up brush of some sort) to see if I can help things along. I can put a gasolene heater in, but first, want to clear it out.
