Moon planting...again...sorry!

apologies i didn't mean by 'biased' that you weren't from a scientific background

merely that you believe that moon planting works, as many moon planters do, and that this could effect the outcome of any trials

i'm not trying to prove that moon planting doesn't work, in fact quite the opposite, i'm very interested in whether it works

plus i'm full of respect for everyone out there noodling away at their experiments, it's what science is based on, but for something to be presented as a fact it needs to be rigorously examined, in a non-biased way

Which version of moonplanting are you using?

I'm trying planting out at synodic times this year but before I looked into it I'd only ever heard of biodynamic. I'm just wondering which one people had noticed a difference with (especially as they seem to conflict some of the time)

and yes i may be harping on a bit!

just that if he's happy about making up evil lies about some of the most despicable moments mankind has ever faced, it isn't a great reference for any of his other work, and it just so happens to be that he's a leading proponent of the moon gardening movement

so no offense but i probably won't get over it if its all the same!

ok so i'm going to start some very small trials, but they are very easily replicable and it would make the data much more significant if as many people as possible joined in

i'll start a new thread with the details in case anyone is bored enough to join in!

i can't quite read the bit where it says what to plant though it rather tantalisingly says 'today is a good day to plant ... ', i'm guessing by the wee pictures that saturday and sunday are leaf days and that the furthest point from a leaf day would be this coming tuesday?

Ok gang, lets get back on track....Am I to assume that "sowing" applies to transplanting too? For example I've just sown some Swiss Chard and Brussel Sprouts as according to the Synodic cycle. When these are ready to go out into the lottie I should do this on a leaf day too to keep everything in sync? Or can they go out whenever, as they were sown on a leaf day initially?

Yes, sowing, transplanting, any maintenance [ie nipping out shoots or cutting back] and harvesting should be on the appropriate day.

Hi Guys,

Right I have bought myself a nice big Year Planner and I am going for the Biodynamic sowing. Although this is my first full year in having my allotment but theres no harm in trying this out.

I will keep you all posted and hopefully we can share experiences and outcomes.

Obviously Moonplanting is in addition to good soil and nutrients management but I am excited about following the calender as well.

with all the talk of being bias or not, 1 way to eliminate that would be to do double blind experiments so the person growing them doesn't know wheater the plants are moon or not and when any thing needs to be done thats, 'moony' an impartial grower should come in and do it
