  • St. Pierre tomato

Hi, has anyone grown St Pierre tomatoes before, they are a new addition to my greenhouse this year, I picked them because of their described size and flavour and I thought they would go well with sub arctic plenty, and moneymaker, to give a spread of ripe fruit rather than all at once..... anyone?

Sorry, no - there are so many tomato varieties and I have very limited space

French and Italian varieties are well worth a go, though. This year I'm trying out the popular plum tomato "San Marzano" in addition to my usual salad selection.

Grew it outside, for the 1st time last year, difficult to say how good it was as the weather was so poor. Growing it again this year though.

yes grew them last year and trying again this year ...not incredibly successful as i got blight and had to pick most of mine when tiny but growing toms from seed is not as easy as i thought it would be!!!! Definitely better then sub arctic plenty - poor harvest from last year's free seeds never grown money maker knowingly

What did you think of them the second time you tried?
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

Lol! I just spotted this thread and thought it was a new one. We're trying them again this year, as 1st & 2nd time we lost them to blight/bad weather!

Oh dear. We've never had blight but we're almost guaranteed to have bad weather!

Sorry to get you all excited, thinking it was a new thread with summat relevant to say.

I sampled them along with 7 or 8 other varieties on a seed saving course a few years back, they were my second or third favorite and I grew my favorite from the tasting which was Rose de Berne. If I had more room they're one I would love to grow, I'm trying a few "new to me" early varieties this year so I'll make a note for next year and see if I can squeeze them in.
Jiving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray, seems to be all and it's rosy-it's a beautiful day!
