Having a couple of stray turnips in the spud grower (don't ask) which have really vigorous growth on them and are starting to bolt - I would presume that I can eat the tops? It's only like eating sprouting broccoli, isn't it?

Sprouting Brassicas

There's even a type of turnip grown for its flowering shoots. It's called broccoli raab - faster growing than regular broccoli, and spicier in flavour. I haven't had much luck growing it so far (probably because protecting my little raised beds from insects is a bit fiddly owing to the bird netting that's there to keep the chickens out) - if my attempts at broccoli this year don't work out, I might try it on the lottie.
