  • why have my baby onions fallen over?

Can one of you help me please - I've grown some bunching onions from seed, they came up really quickly but once they got over about 1" tall they all fell over and are just floppy now, they don't look wilted but the stems are only about 1mm wide and about 3" tall/long - I was expecting them to be as thick as chives

Compost is moist, they're in plenty of light (on shelving just inside a south facing window)- what have I done wrong?
and more importantly, are they likely to recover

    Too warm.

Onions should be outside as soon as they germinate, if they are indoors at all. This time of year, they can be sown and grown on outdoors.

Harden them off a bit for a couple of days and then leave them outside?
They may well perk up once they are outside.
Don't worry about how thin they are - all onion seedlings ssem to be like that!
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Thank you - they're hardening off now. I knew there must be something I was missing
