  • (Reusing) Growbags

Would like to get some grapes opinions on something!

I had 3 growbags earmarked for courgettes last year. One I used all season but the other two died quite early on (combination of slugs and being terrible about watering!). Could I reuse some of the contents in pots for growing salad leaves or will all the nutrients have leaked out of them over the winter? If not I'll just chuck the lot on my raised beds as normal

I reuse my old grow bag compost for growing seeds in , putting on the garden and topping up other pots. It seems to work ok , sometimes I just add some fertiliser ie mirical grow , when I water the plants .

It has two chances , up or down.

I've used a fish box of compost from last year to grow some salad leaves in - I mixed in a complete fertilizer and added a 1/2 inch fresh layer of compost to sow the seeds on - considering the fishbox was saturated in water last summer and just sat outside all winter its been a total sucess, to be honest I'm getting much better results from having adding the fetilizer to the compost than I got using it first time last year when it was "fresh" from the bag.

Food for thought for me as I used to sow all my lettuce leaves using fresh bagged compost
Jiving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray, seems to be all and it's rosy-it's a beautiful day!

Last year I used my tomato growing bag compost to sow spring onions and leeks over winter, that was very successful. It made good use of space in the greenhouse over winter, the spring onions have gone out now and are looking good, some leeks have gone out already and some are waiting in big pots and will stay there as long as I need them to.

Salad leaves would work well also.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
