  • Potted Tuscan/Red kale,leeks & PSB!

Got a bit snap happy with my new camera today so thought I'd show you my indoor brassica experiment which has Tuskan kale and Red kale in it (other greenhouse has PSB and Spring cabbage in it!)
Also my Purple Sprouting Brocolli outdoors and netted, which is giving me some nice suppers lately.
And lastly my leek experiment. These leeks were sown 1 year ago, abou 50 to an 8 inch pot. Some were pricked out and grown on to give me whoppers last year. The remainder were put in late when the tatties came out (by this time they were potbound in the pots)and have been a real winter boon.

How did you grow your good looking kale Snadge? Interesting about the leeks too, might try similar with some winter leeks currently in small modules. Camera seems to take good piccies btw. Or do I mean the owner takes good piccies!

I'm thinking of doing something similar this year as I have very limited growing space and can't justify giving potential tomato/bean space to something as boring as leeks How did you put out the potbound leeks? as a big clump, or did you do the thing of putting them into a hole and filling it with water?

Wow, makes my red kale look miniscule...only 2" high so far. Looks great and it's not the camera but the person using it IMHO. I'm a point and shoot hoping for the best sort of girl but tend to end up deleting loads til left with something that is at least in focus.

We're still having to buy PSB so looking forward to cropping our own next year, though I've bought one variety that crops this year as we can't wait tooooooo long for my favourite veg.
