We hit our sheds first thing this morning ( we have his and hers versions) Unfortunately it's meant I've been given stuff back to store in mine, stuff I'd sneaked in when he wasn't looking. Going to do weeding in the rain now - it's not too heavy and it means I can watch my new chooks at the same time.

We had a shower about 8;30 this morning but it has dried up since and I'm just going round the lottie to sow some parsnips.

Is it wise to weed in the rain? I know its a daft question but its the usual for me hehe. I've started on my seeds in a tray and popped them in a propagator and was going to go and weed today but it has rained all day.

If the shed and greenhouse was mine I would've tidied them up as they're full of stuff but I don't want to throw out what isn't mine

Don't see why not. I would have thought it would be easier to get the weeds out when the soil is wet.

Raining on and off here too, but between showers I have hoed off the weeds, and then hoed in some chicken pellets, potted on some squash, courgettes and marigolds, and built two cane wigwams ready to put my sweet peas out.

It may be wet but it is also mild and no wind, so I have put three garden pearl toms out to harden off.

Spent 2 minutes just watching a pair of blackbirds nesting in our hedge - they don't mind the rain!

The much needed water for my garden has finally arrived. Has been drizzling for a couple of hours. I have 4 water butts that have been empty for weeks so hoping they are filling up. The garden already looks fresher.

OH has just ventured out... I think it is light drizzle at the moment. I have done a few bits in the greenhouse but am hoping it's dry tomorrow so that I can get my spuds in.

We got our early spuds in, and I sowed 2 rows of carrots (covered by fleece) and a row of radish. How come I felt OK today when I am wrecked on a Saturday or Sunday?

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.

No time for prolonged posts pontificating, we've been out all day in the rain, jetwashed the decking, moved stuff about, painted up some raised beds for family which we are installing on sunday, picked out and packed up all the seedlings to take and plant out for them, scrubbed the decking with sodacrystals to get rid of the algae [the jet wash does some, but not all...], moved more stuff about, hosed down the courtyard and still have time for 2 hour sit down with OH's family, eating chocolate, drinking coffee and tea, and making sausage and mash for dinner. And then, another 2 hours weeding next door's garden as the wife is in hospital and the hubby [both in their 90s] hasn't weeded for weeks - OH is still down there finishing off.

Got half an hour to clean up and dry out before GW at 8.

Gawd I'm definitely a Southern Softie although I live up North. Right I've decided no matter what the weather tomorrow I'm going out and working on the ground, deweeding etc and I've bought some all round fertiliser to mix in with the soil so that when it's all deweeded I can start planting a few things.

Right c'mon get me ass out there

Weeding is better in the rain as it loosens the roots.

Planting stuff out is better in the rain as it waters them in.

Rain is great stuff, get yerself a thermal vest on and get out there.
