Mine were shorter than that but had roots coming out the bottom of the modules and they transplanted fine, though the module cells were smaller than yours. As long as the root ball stays intact when you start pulling them out, it should be fine. I like for the compost to dry out a bit first otherwise it tends to fall apart. Plant them deeper so they don't flap around in the wind so much.
I'd wait. I tried on Friday to plant out some leeks that looked like that, it didn't go well. So I'll be leaving the rest for a few more weeks. There were a few roots sticking out the bottom, but actually that was all the roots there were and they just fell apart as soon as they came out the module.
Not sure when these are ready can anyone advise? Thanks
I personally would not, they do not look strong enough, wait until the roots are very visible, then the whole cell will come out clean, when you do transfer, put em in at the same level,i do suppose they are spring onions,as they on that thread,if not please say.
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these
Actually, better with spring onion, but I tend to sow them straight in the ground LOL Leeks usually in modules and I plant them out when they're about the size in the picture lol
