Organic myth 2!!!!!

Went to post on the Organic myth post and found it had been closed for some reason?
All I wanted to say was that I prefer using rainwater for watering and for my chooks who have tasted naught else and took no harm. I don't like chlorinated water and as far as I know bottled water is 'Spring water ' with nowt added?
I think it's sensible to use rainwater whenever possible and our allotment members are encouaged to use it as our tap water is metered. Rainwater is a natural resource and is FREE!!!!!

Just wondered whether organic farmers are allowed to use mains water.........maybe the Rat can answer this one?

Hi, I agree with you - I dont profess to being organic, although i do try and grow produce as natural as poss. Found enviromesh, although expensive, very good for protection. I think if we all try and head in the right direction thats the best we can hope to do.

I've been out all day and missed the 'fun'.....

My angle on the whole thing would be that if you knew what elements/chemicals were in the soil that you grow your veg in, you probably wouldn't eat it. All natural soils have unappetising chemicals naturally occurring...and some unnaturally occurring - you can't control what you start out with, but can only make your mark on the soil you have.

And what exactly goes into making stuff like enviromesh? Hmmmm....

Everyone makes their choices, and grows to their limits of 'organic-ness' or 'chemicalness' wherever they may lie.

I agree Zazen. Before I started growing I really wasnt aware, or bothered that food was treated with chemicals or flown halfway round the world. My attitude is different now. However I can only go as organic as common sense allows. I have limits on my time and energy after all

Ps I have no idea how many chemicals go into making enviromesh and I dont mind! Anything that keeps the cabbage white of me cabbages will do me! See I told you I had limited ethics
