Leeks and parsnips. the parsnips are nearly finished maybe one or two more meals, There are still plenty of leeks but one or two have started to flower so the rest probably wont be long in following suit.

The first of many cut and come again salad.

Also added some lettuce thinnings. It's great to eat your own grown food.

More spring onions (note to self, buy red beard again, it is probably the nicest spring onion I've ever had, mild and sweet) and some kale.

Just some rosemary and thyme, but they added some lovely flavour to my cooking.

Today I will be harvesting yet more lettuce - a glut in April, that's new to me, could it be the weather?

My winter lettuce/leaves are all doing well presently:
                            Winter Density
                            Parella Red
                            Valdor
Spinach - Toscane, still doing great guns from the last August sowing
                            Wild Rocket

I don't think I will grow the Winter Density again when the others - particularly the Parella Red - are so good. Shame the corn salad went over.

In Feb I thought these would be close to over around now so I sowed six of each of Black Seeded Simpson & Sky Rocket and in mid March planted these in my runner bean trench - wow I'm amazed - they have done so well. The trench had worm compost buried in it this year - it seems to be very good for the lettuce as well. The Black Seeded Simpson has no aphids on it either so this is one I must grow again.

The new neighbour thinks I'm really green fingered [she is getting the surplus, as well as friends] but I'm pretty sure it is a fluke. I've not grown lettuce at this time of year before so this success is a real delight to me.

It's really wonderful to be able to grow your own tasty veg isn't it?

                            Ann

                            Pic enclosed [I hope]

PSB - my first year growing it - astonishing stuff!
A nice Tundra cabbage that survived the cabbage whites last summer
                                Rhubarb and more asparagus
I'm a very happy grower today!
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
