Hi, never grown broad beans before. I plan on growing some in a large barrel. Should a sow the seed direct or in pots in greenhouse first? The seeds I have are The Sutton (dwarf). Will they need any support at all?

I've sown some outdoors today and about a fortnight ago. The ones from a fortnight ago are now up!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

And another broad bean question.
Mine have had black and white flowers for weeks, and now the flowers on the lower part of the plant have withered, and just look black and sort of burnt or dried out. Is that what is supposed to happen and will I have beans soon?Never say never!

Oleander if they (the flowers) were fertilised/pollenated then yes, the flowers will start to fall off and you'll then see small pods behind themNever test the depth of the water with both feet
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....
Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
