The Eva are great - we grew them last year and these are the saved seeds from them. They're like a small plum shape, quite juicy, but enough meat to use for sauce making, and a really good flavour & acid/sweet balance I might have a few seeds leftover if you want to try a plant? They are bushy though, so they take up some space, but a really good yield

I'll save you some for next year if you like?!

Tsk Sweepster. Go to the back of the class... and look through your seed catalogues whilst you're there!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

LOl Sweepster... If you were closer, I'd give you some seedlings

Sarah that would be very much appreciated thanks. Will try them next year.

I've got 3 different types on the go and another I haven't sown yet.

Millefleur (2 plants given to me by a friend)
Red Cherry (came free with a mag I think, so they were my early sowing)
                Ildi (yum)
Sweet Olive (not yet sown - might keep them for next year).

Might not seem much, but my lo doesn't like tomatoes so it's only me eating them

Roma, Sub Arctic Plenty, Ildi, Red Cherry, Black Cherry, Alisa Craig, Aurora, Purple Ukraine, Moneymaker (from our visit to the RHS garden) and Tigerella. So that's 10 varieties for me, most only are one plant of each. I also have an extreme number of peas about the place, probably near but not quite as many.

                      Tigerella
                      Roma.
                      I make that 6.
Jings, they've all to be grown outdoors. I think that makes me mad enough to be a Grape.

I was wondering how many of each variety that you grow and if these are for your veg patch or for keeping in the greenhouse. Being a newbie, it is interesting to know how many/much to sow/grow. I seem to have way too many tomato plants on the go but at this stage I am waiting to see how strong they become and which plants are the best. I then hope to keep 4 or 5 in the greenhouse and plant the rest out in the veg patch or in pots.

Ive got 15 varieties at various stages of growth, one or two are older seeds which might not germinate, also got purple and green tomatillos and got two more tom varieties to sow today

BumbleB... I'm the wrong person to ask I seem to have OCD when it comes to tom's I got my greenhouse this winter passed, so I'll grow at least 1 of each Heritage varitey in the greenhouse, some like gardeners' delight, Roma nad the basket cherry toms will all be outside. I've found homes for a few of my extra's. I usually plant 3 or 4 pots of each variety, then give away until I have 2 of each.

I only have 2x plastic mini-GH so although I might be able to grow a tomato or two in one of them once the seed trays start to clear, most will go outside.

I have 2 of the Millefleur , and 8-10 seedlings each of the other two. I will probably select the strongest of these rather than grow them all to maturity, although I am planning for lower yield per plant than greenhouse toms so will not cut down very much. Maybe 6 of each type?

                                I have:

                                Moneymaker
                                Garden Pearl

All I want are some decent cherry tomatoes for the children to just pick and eat and some to make a basic tomato sauce with to freeze. Anyone want to suggest some good ones to me
