Its all things curcubit for me. There is a class in the Garden Society Autumn Show for a collection of curcubits, which I am intending to do very well at, so I'm growing:

    Butternut Squash
    Squash 'Crown Prince'
    Patty Pan
    Climbing Courgette 'Black Forest'
    Yellow Courgette 'Jemmer'
    Courgette 'All Green Bush'
    Pumpkin 'Aspen'
    Pumpkin 'Hundred Weight'
...I know there is another Pumpkin, just can't think what its called...

To be honest, I got most of these through the Pass the Parcel seed swap, so thanks guys, you've really improved my chances of a prize this year.

Not quite 27 varieties here, but potatoes are my downfall. Not only do homegrown taste better, but unless you've grown all the veg, including the spuds, then it's not a real homegrown meal. I'm more of an obsessive than Tattieman though coz I eat all mine.

Well although my No's are not as high as some of you lot, here goes my obsession for this year at least, is with Toms, Chilli's and Peppers!

All on the lists below are all growing strong, most since mid Jan.

I have 10 types of tomatos

          Gartenperl
          Black Cherry
          Lollipop
          Cream Saussage
          Orange Banana
          Royal Chico
          Tigarella
          Brandywine
          Vintagewine
I also have some not long germinated seeds from one of those stripy zebra type, that Tesco sell in the mixed packs. *Yea at last, that was 2nd try!* I think they are possibly Black zebra going by this link looks verry much like anyway

          Black Zebra Tomato Seeds

          Chilli's I have 7 types growing now.
          White Habanero
          Chocolate Hafanero
          Lemon Hot
          Purple Jalapino
BrightsLacotto (Errm sorry guys thats Brights Locoto! Me and my dyslexic fingers! )
          Fatali
          Pequin

I also have a few other types but not had a chance to sow them, not got the the room to grow them.

Peppers only have about 3 types
          Chocolate peppers
          Lipstic Red, long pointy peppers
          Baby orange peppers

Sauce's soup's and salsa's on the menue!! LOL

Think thats about it? I don't think I have forgotten any types of anything that is already growing within these categories!

I don't think thats too bad a start for this first year growing againe. It has been yonks and yonks of years since I was last growing anything! Even then it was ordinary toms like Money Maker, Alicante and easy F1 cucumbers.

I have loads of other veg growing as well but in much smaller amounts and variety.

I have 9 varieties of tomato, 7 of garlic, 4 of onion, 5 of chilli, 5 of peppers, 3 of courgette and 3 or 4 varieties of pea...

Not as many as some of you, but that's ok

I'm trying some different kinds of courgettes this year for the horti shows.. having won lots last year with 'normal' courgettes, I thought I'd try my hand with some different ones

I knew I'd gone a bit batty when I planted some different herb varieties simply because they'd show well in the summer shows

Pet hate veg I have grown and won't again.
              Kohl rabi, just why?
Melon, they tantalisingly get big and then die Might grow this again when I have conveniently forgotten about the heartache.
Black tomatoes, you can't tell which fruit have blight and which don't, harvested a total of 2 fruit last year from one plant and they tasted boring.
"Orinoco was a fat lazy Womble"

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

Blimy...makes me feel quite sane looking at these lists

I have lots of different vegetables. Only two types of tomato at the moment, I would have more but there's too much choice! I keep lusting after the greenhouses we drive by which look neglected Then I could have loads!

My obsession is variety across the board. I like to grow a little of every type of veg. My other obsession is fruit, I have strawberries, raspberries, blackberry, tayberry, boysenberry, gojiberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, huckleberry, rhubarb, alpine strawberry, chokeberry, cranberry, blueberry and melon. Unfortunately I can't grow tree's on our lottie so no fruit trees.

fruit wise I have new since last autum! 1 stella cherry tree, 1 pare tree, think is confrence? strawberry plants which now have some fruit forming on them, mind I did not get to plant them out yet they have been in teh greenhouse for a while now! A blackberry plant, tayberry plant, redcurrent plant and thanks to tricky a lovely rhubarb crown that is now growing well! I did plant a rasberry and a goseburry last autum but nothing has happened with them so have now dug them up to make way for other things!

This is my first year of growing anything, so everything is exciting. I have got 12 types of Chilli on the go though
                          3 types of toms
                          4 types of peppers
2 types of Garlic (elephant doesn't want to grow though )
                          Lots and lots of herbs

I'll never have room for it all in my small garden
Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that, I'll be over
                          here, looking through your stuff.

                              An old thread resurrected!

5 months ago, in my first year, I decided I had planted far too many seeds, and had far too many varieties (9 tomatoes 6 chilli's) and I had learned a lesson.

so why do I now have seeds for 15 varieties of tomatoes, and 11 different chilli's, and cant wait to sow them all?

I feel your 'pain' Davy! I'm in Pumpkin Becki's camp and a squash lover (they sprung themselves upon me when I wasn't paying attention - I'd never really eaten them before). This year I grew six types of squash (Hunter, Harlequin, Uchiki Kuri, Rugosa, Cobnut and Crown Prince) and they have all done great and just look amazing all sitting next to each other in the shed in storage, such beautiful colours....but I now find I already have 7 types for seeds for sowing next year plus a 'reserve' list of another 3 that if I can, I WILL squeeze in!! Its not up there with the double figures of the toms/chillis/beans etc but given the space they take up and I really don't have a big plot, they are more than taking over my plot!
My big 'wish I would stop growing them' is courgettes - I don't 'mind' them but realised this year that we ate about 4 out of the whole crop and gave/threw the rest away......I'm determined not to grow them next year.....but I do have a really lovely yellow seed to try and I love the way the plants grow and are so productive.....
