Sweet Potato

hi,

I want to grow sweet potato's and have read in my book that the tuber needs to be put in a container with water at the bottom and left in a warm place to sprout, then pull the young rooted shoot off and plant them.

The tubers are ready to dig when the growth dies back or before hard frost.

Can any one else give me any more advice on Sweet Pot growing.
