OK so not sure if this is a veg or a fruit question really...

My wife likes pickled cucumbers. She assures me these are cucumbers and not gherkins. So really it's a couple of questions: is there any difference between cucumbers and gherkins, and more importantly any recommendations of cucumbers to grow that can be pickled (if at all possible grown outdoors)?

    Any advice gratefully received,

    Rob

if you look in the seed catalogues they usually list pickling cukes in there (Marshalls & DT Browns does and Edwin Tuckers - just checked). Most of them seem to be greenhouse only so not sure if they will grow outside or not as cukes like it warm & humid.

    Hope that helps

Seen a few that can be grown outdoors (supposedly), just wondered if I was missing something as the wife seemed quite definite about what they had to be. Thanks,
