Leaf Curling on Tomato Seedlings

Hello

I have a selection of Tomato seedlings in my unheated greenhouse. they are all about 4-5 inches high. However i have noticed that the new leaves on some of them have begun to curl and shrivel. This is maily on the beef toms, but also on some of the plum toms. there is no eveidence of any critters

Any ideas anyone?

I had the same problem yesterday. I've got 20 tomato plants that I'm hardening off. They go out on a table in the garden during the day and get brought in at night. So far most of the time they have a sun tunnel over them to protect from wind etc. Noticed some leaves were curling, so took sun tunnel off and they're fine again today. So my guess would be they're getting too warm, or lack of ventilation. Do you have a max/min thermometer in your greenhouse?

i don't have a thermometer in there, maybe i should invest. I open the door and wiindow when its sunny and warm, and its always closed at night.
Maybe i'll move these toms to the back, so they aren't in the direct sunlight, as the ones in other parts of the greenhouse seem to be OK

Do you think they are salvageable, as some look v sad !

Mine curled up yesterday, I think they were just too hot and too thirsty, water seemed to revive them

Tomatoes curl their leaves when they're not happy Lyndsbob.
What they're not happy about is not always obvious - too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet, too just what they don't want it to be. Sulky chldren.
But it doesn't seem to affect their fruiting performance. I've had great crops from tomatoes with their leaves all curled up. Let them sulk and look forward to your tomatoes.

Mine were all curled up the other day too - they were too hot and hadn't had any water. They revived pretty quick afterwards though!

I usually find that they curl up when it gets too hot and dry.
