How long?

I sowed some carrot seeds 4 weeks ago in a large trough on the patio. How long do they usually take to germinate as there is no signs of mine as yet?

Should I keep the compost moist? Apart from when I first sowed them the compost has been on the drier side for fear of the seeds rotting.

I would expect to see carrots germinating well before 4 weeks Jessica.
If the compost is very dry on the surface - where the seeds are - nothing will germinate.
I would give them a good soaking and you'll be surprised at how quickly they'll pop up.

Thanks Alice. I did wonder if they were to dry. I have just been out & given them a drink.

After daily waterings the past few days the first few seedlings have appeared. Yeah!!!
