  • Potato Onions

Is anyone else growing them? If so how are you storing your onions for next year. I've been thinking about this all night, so I need answers before tonight so that I can get some sleep I never store onions over winter (for eating) let alone for growing more next year - I don't have a shed, nor a pantry so where else is an option.

I will be next year hopefully; I'd harvest some and leave the rest in the ground for winter.

Sounds interesting. I would like to give them a try - where do you get them from please?

I got them from Poyntz Field Herbs, based in the Black Isle. They have a website and have lots of lovely things

I'm with you Jilly, still it is amazing that as more and more people get involved in GYO the more stuff seems to be appearing from the distant past. I suppose it's all about supply and demand and financial viability. Hadn't heard of honey berry till a few weeks ago and now two or three companies are selling them.

I'm sticking to Egyptian Walking Onions [or Topsetting onions] but adding the potato onions to my repertoire next year. Perhaps Frosty - you and I can do a swap later in the year when we have a few spares each.

I'm thinking of starting an onion obsession club; but I think I might be the only member.

Zazen, you wouldn't be alone!!!...I've lost count of how many we've planted(so far!)this year...thought I'd gone overboard last year, but still have almost run out from our store!
