I'm getting really excited as my first cucumber is nearly ready to be picked and eaten! There are at least 8 others on the plant so looking forward to a nice first crop! I'm especially excited cos I've never grown cucumbers before and it seemed a bit touch and go in the beginning!

Crikey - when did you sow?
Sounds brilliant
(I've sown what I thought would be "earlies" which are still only about 8" high, my "main" cukes won't be sown til May! But they are for outdoors lol)Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Mmmm, my mouth is watering.
Went for a picnic today, could have done with a cuke to munch
Well done you - if I had more windowsill space it might be tempting for next year!Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Are all your windowsills, that this plant does the daily rounds on, in full sun? Cucs need a lot of sun and warmth. Very well done Sam, a cucumber harvest by April is quite an achievement!!!

Thanks The first windowsill, when it was but an ickle seedling, got the most sun and it shot up in a very short time, the second windowsill didn't get much sunlight but the first flower and the first ickle cucs started appearing at this stage. The windowsill it's currently on gets quite a lot of sun and the plant is currently producing huge leaves and more and more cucs every day lol the first cuc was very tasty and between us we ate it for dinner
