Nooooooooooo! Do you think these will grow?

After going out and buying lots of new seeds because I couldn't find my stash, Mr G has just found it!

Got some peas best before 2005, carrots best before 2006 and lots of others with no dates on at all!

I also now have an extra 5 packets of lettuce seeds Think I'm just going to try and grow everything and then give/sell the excess.

lettuce lasts for years so should be ok.
its a bit of extra hassle but u could sprout the others on kitchen towel to see if theyll germinate and plant out the ones that do

Yeah might try that. Just listing them all on my spreadsheet at the moment with old in brackets, then at least if they don't sprout I'll know why! Got loads of flowers as well which I've never bothered growing as I'm not really a flower person.

Carrots, might be OK if an unopened packet, but probably rather LESS germination than new; if opened, wouldn't bother. Parsnips, forget it. Peas may or may not be OK, I'd do the paper-towel bit.
Most other things, if there is an unopened inner foil packet, worth a try on paper towel....

i found loads of parsnip seeds dating from sow before 2005 up to 2009, i put them on kitchen paper as mentioned on a prev thread and only 3 of the 2009 seeds germinated and none of the other dates. i've also had no success at all with older onion seeds, normal or spring so at the end of this year i'm going to have a good clear out and get rid of a lot of the stuff i've aquired. i would say give them a go, but don't be too surprised if they don't show.

Sow the peas. I'm growing some best before 2005 sugar snaps from SBP - they're growing a treat!

I know that parsnip are bad for not germinating, but my last year's seed did. Every one I planted, either on kitchen roll or in the loo rolls came up. I'm glad I tried them out before buying new for this year

Thanks for that link. I might be alright with some things then. Shall give them a go on paper and see what happens
