Cucumber - is this a side shoot or a mini cucumber?! (pic)

Hi,

Growing cucumbers for first time since i was a kid and hope someone can help...

The variety is "Female F1 Hybrid" - should I be nipping off side shoots or other bits and bobs?
If i should be, then what do i do with the bit in the pic - is that a mini cucumber?!

Sorry for being a muppet, but i want to try to get this right.

err, not quite. the "first" one got nipped off by yours truly before i thought of asking what it was...

but it's good to know that things are growing!

now what about nipping off side-shoots - should i be doing that?

I don't bother unless they get too unruly. I suppose space would dictate whether you do or not?

same as shirlthegirl43 re side shoots leave them alone unless it becomes a problem

shame about the first cucumber but hey we all do things like that from time to time
