I have a large pile of laurel leaf hedge cuttings behing a tree in my garden. It's been there for about three years. At the bottom of the heap there is about a foot of what looks like very good leaf mould. We have very heavy soil and need to put in a lot of organic matter to improve it. Can anyone tell me if it's safe to use this as a soil conditioner on my veggie patch?

It'll be brilliant.
(Laurel is poisonous but once it has turned into leafmould all the poison will have broken down and it will not do your veggies any harm. Same principle as rhubarb leaves or sweet peas etc on the compost heap.)
PS welcome to the vine!Last edited by Demeter; 29-04-2009, 10:17 PM.Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.
