I am a compete gardening novice, previously believed the garden was just for tanning but decided to grow my own veggies this year in pots. Got all gung-ho & planted up 3 pots of garlic, only thing is I've just realised I planted bulbs NOT cloves. Got all excited this evening cos they are coming through, then realised my mistake. Ooops! Should I leave them, will I get anything or should I pull them up & start again?

I think the cloves will split and because they are still part of the bulb the new cloves won't be able to grow to a good size. But I'd also be interested to see what happens in reality.

I think you may be able to use it earlier as green garlic. see link
What is Green Garlic?
The cloves growing close together will produce shhots, but probably no form cloves. I think garlic also needs a cold spell underground to help it split.
