I'm growing various things from seed for the first time this year - cherry & ordinary tomatoes, jalapenos and dill (plus some Virginian stock, night scented stock & phlox) and I'm getting impatient! I planted them all about 4 weeks ago and put them in one of those plastic covered shelf units that claims to be like a greenhouse, but apart from the dill none of them are showing any signs of life. Do they normally take this long? Should I have kept them indoors?

How long should these seeds take to germinate?

The chillis and toms will want to be warmer than just outside. Bring them in, mine were in a coldframe and doing nothing for 2 weeks. I put them in a heated propogator and they were up within a few days. The flowers may be the same (but I don't really know!).Tx

My blinking cherry tomatoes are taking their sweet time too! Mind, it's only been two weeks....The Impulsive Gardener

meditate and practice the art of patience my parsnips took over 2 months to come through, other bits have taken almost as long. Try germinating the toms and chillies indoors to kickstart them...Never test the depth of the water with both feet
