Hi All, it is my first time growing cucumbers and I have noticed a mark on one of the first true leaves that I want to know if is normal or not. The mark is only what I can describe as the mark made when you drip a drop of water on the a sheet of paper and it sinks slightly.

Just to add on to this as people helping/reading it will know about cucumbers... ive planted some but being a complete novice at growing ANYTHING (this year is my first at anything apart from herbs) ive realised i have no idea what to do if they do actually grow!!
Do cucumbers need to be "trained" up canes etc? Im running out of room to put anything as i didnt think about what i would do if all the seeds i planted would grow!!! Could i put them in a pot & put canes in the pot? Ive planted marketmore cucumbers (got packet of seeds from poundland to try out & they're coming up a treat so far Any help on growing them would be appreciated.

i'm growing mine in a pot with a cane, i put an extra cane in when the cucumbers started to develop, i'm growing mini cucumbers but i don't see any reason why normal sized cucumbers couldn't be grown in a pot as long as the pot is big enough, eating your first cucumber is very satisfying good luck!

I grow every thing in my green houses in pots. I tie string round the pot top below the rim and up to the top of the green house and let the tom or cuecumbers grow u this.
The marks on the leaves are normal like when water splashes on a waxed car.
Don't forget to keep picking your cuecumbers. the more you pick the more you will get. and they grow very quickly. My phone has more Processing power than the Computers NASA used to fake the Moon Landings

I grow my cucumbers about 2 feet apart in the ground in the greenhouse. I suspend semi rigid plastic netting from a wire strung just below the roof and let them scramble up that. I am not sure a single cane would support the weight of a fully developed plant and all that fruit. The variety you refer to produces comparitively large (and therefore heavy) fruit compared with my the Burpless Tasty Green I grow. If you can't use netting, maybe some sort of lattice work of canes/sticks would do the trick.

I abandoned my first attempt at cucumbers when I realised from advice on here that I had started far too early. I have some seeds just emerging, so hope to do better this time. I am hoping for 4 plants and had already prepared 4 x 12" pots outdoors. I have erected a kind of "frame" around the pots with canes and tennis balls covered with fleece, do you think I could wire this up somehow for the plants to climb around in? Sorry, that sounds a bit disjointed - hope you know what I mean!Granny on the Game in Sheffield

You can grow Marketmore cukes outside. Grew some in a growbag last year and they did well until the dog decided to eat all the cucumbers.
