      • First courgette for me as well today - I found a tip in GW magazine about using plastic bottles of water by the plant nearby to help keep the warmth going overnight. Either it worked, or its just the glorious weather.

                        • Big handful of chard, 3 strawbs and a few peas eaten by small daughter, and my first globe artichoke of the season (7 oz - is that a reasonable size? No idea!). Delicious steamed with melted butter for lunch.

                          • 2 courgettes (1 yellow, 1 green) from polytunnel, peas, mangetout, cabbage and yesterday had calabrese, mice eating strawberries, charlotte pots, overwintered onions are all lifted as starting to bolt, and my broad beans arer waiting to find a space on my table. Used salad leaves this morning for packed lunches ,mixture of lettuce spinach beet, rocket, lambs lettuce, beetroot and radish. Husband threatening to cut housekeeping.

                              • Third lot of potatoes in bags. Another half bucket from 5 tubers of Charlotte spuds. Broad beans and peas for tonight's dinner. Watercress for the sauce to go over the salmon. Strawberries for afters. Gherkins and beetroot for pickling. Cucumbers and lettuce for kids' school lunch salad bowls.
