In the last week i have harvested Strawberries, Pak Choi, Mint, Vivaldi Spuds (pot grown), Radishes, Yellow Chard, Rhubarb & one pod of Broad Beans. I am so proud
Mixed salad bowl, spinach, little gem lettuce, spinach, iceberg lettuce, spinach, lollo rosso, spinach, rhubarb and did i mention some spinach ?
I have got two 4ft rows of spinach, one beet and one true. there are about 8 plants in each row and i don't know what to do with it all !
The link to my old website with vegetable garden and poultry photographs
The rest of the GH broad beans (def doing that again next year!); a handful of peas; some carrots for lunch; my first tumbling tom (didn't go with anything but couldn't leave it there all lonely!) and some salad leaves. Life is g-o-o-o-d!
Big bunch of Leaf Salad Stir-fry mix. Left it to form plants before harvesting and had tasty lunch of pak choi, tatsoi, choy sum and kailaan sir-fried with garlic!
broad beans, french beans (greenhouse), tomatoes (see early tom thread), carrots (paris market), chillies, romaine lettuce, pandero lettuce, salad leaves and watercress.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.
Over the last week we have had our first few bits from our garden
Mint - lots
Parsley - lots
Chives - lots
Spinach(never tried this before but it's yummy)
A pea pod
2 small strawberries(very sweet)
and a few bay leaves
can't wait til we are harvesting more from our garden. Even the neighbours are wanting to grow their own cos they have seen ours.
The past week has been the most productive since I started gyo two years ago.
We have harvested:
5 lbs rocket spuds
large bunches of rocket salad leaves
1 rosetta lettuce
Enough broad beans for six generous helpings
1 spring cabbage
11 beetroot
1 courgette (plenty more coming!)
3 sticks rhubarb - currently being cooked in a crumble
copious amounts of basil, chives, mint and parsley
3 portions of scarlet curly kale
3 portions of perpetual spinach
and a couple of ripe cherries that didn't even make it indoors!
Today we are having alternating rain and sun, so everything is going to grow like mad this week! I bet I'll be sick of courgettes by the end of June.
beetroot, broad beans (so many gave some away) strawbs, loadsa mint (many varieties) turnip (oasis) radishes, lettuces, carrots ,onions ready, not yet harvested and probably pots (in Bags) red and blackcurrants less than a week away.
