De-junglified the greenhouse yesterday and found 3 more big cucumbers - aarrgghhh! What am I going to do with them all? Toms are coming thick and fast and OH and I went and foraged 3 pounds of blackberries from the towpath hedges. And there are loads to come.
Red and yellow toms, Dragon's Egg cuke and several assorted courgettes, rocket and a nibbley number of radish pods and mangetout, eaten on the hoof (not quite right for a chicken but you know what I mean )
Yesterday I arrived at the plot having been away for two days and found a ridiculous number of purple and yellow French beans that NEEDED picking. This is my first year with a plot and I can say it really is true that you need to check for beans on a daily basis. 🌱😀
Also cut a load of chard, kale, two cucumbers, a large ish patty pan squash and a courgette. A good little haul.
4 punnets of cherry tomatoes (they've gone bananas this year), 2 courgettes, a load of carrots (they've got carrot fly in places so I'm making soup), blueberries and a late strawberry.
Ordered a freezer to go in the garage as my kitchen one is full!

A carrier bag full to the brim of our own blackberries!
Tis the second picking and it looks like we may only be about 1/2 way through the ripening fruit!
Too tart to eat as they are- but make the most wonderful bramble jelly! YEY!

More red and yellow cherry toms (Yummy), rocket and a Dragon's Egg cucumber (all eaten for lunch)
A bowlful of brassica leaves. I've no idea what they were, I just pick a leaf or two from every plant - so its cabbage, kale, sprouts and broccoli. Can't tell the difference when they're shredded and steamed
Today I went to the allotment to start work on the new plot. I meant to cut a load of chard from my current plot to make a swiss chard pie but it was raining so hard and I forgot my scissors. So instead I picked all the cherry tomatoes off the two straggly plants that are currently on the new plot. There were several handfuls....which is a really nice freebie.
I'll have to go back tomorrow for the chard for the pie, as its my veggie dish for a family dinner on Monday.
